Perhaps they have no one in their life. And just your smile, or just your kind words or just an honest conversation is all they need to pull them out of whatever trouble they are in.

It is the rare person who does not turn their attention to doom and gloom. Perhaps because it is easier to join in the moaning and complaining? Although it may be hard not to not participate in talks of “hard times” and other horrors it is in your own best interests not to.
Focus on all the good surrounding you. There really is more good than bad. And the best thing is the more wonderful things you focus on, the more wonderful things will happen to you.
