Your Mentor Is Your Second Best Friend
Hey, Boomers! Work on these skills and you will be confident with creating online strategies.
When you were younger, did you ever walk into a classroom in the middle of an important lecture. Even if you had reviewed and were confident about what was going to transcribe, there was always a number of pieces of the puzzle that you missed. Somehow, the more you tried to put the pieces together the more they felt out of place. As we got older, there were online skills that others were learning and developing and somehow we have entered the classroom a little late. We were busy building a business or working for a company and working hard to provide for our family. The more time we spent with our family and our working life the busier our lives got and time just flew by us.
Internet marketing is, for the most of us, a bit overwhelming, and suddenly information overload takes over which hampers your decision making skills. To put things more into perspective, a list of skills that you need to develop to make money online will keep you organized so that you can set goals and achieve the success that you desire. These skills are as follows…
1. A Proper Mindset
Yes, this is a skill that must be developed each and every day. Without the proper mindset that is filled with positive thoughts and goal oriented timelines, you will never be able to get out of the starting gate.
2. Know That Failure Is Positive
Remember that failure is only a millimeter from success. By learning from your failures, you will be able to make the necessary adjustments to keep yourself on track to achieve your goals.
3. Find and Know Your Passion In Life
What really excites you? Are you passionate about certain things? Do you have a skill or hobby that you love to do? Dig deep into your inner self and find what really makes you feel absolutely fantastic. Do you love gardening, golf, your grandchildren, recipes, fitness or your local church group, quilting, etc. etc. Whatever really turns you on? Write down a list of 20 areas of interest that you feel passionate about. Break this list down to 5 and really think about how your product(s) or idea(s) could be marketed online.
4. You need your own website to be successful online
I know that marketing other peoples products or becoming an affiliate and marketing online is one possibility to make money online but what if you have a unique and very targeted niche, product or idea that you want to market to others. The only way to get your message across is to build your own website. This may seem a very daunting task but the best way to learn is to follow a mentor that has traveled the rough roads before you. Learning from others gives you knowledge to reach your goals.
5. Choose a Domain Name that is specific to your niche and Host it
If your niche is teaching or instructing others you may want to choose a Domain Name that brands you such as “yourname”.com. Choosing a .com domain name is a more professional approach and is more recognized by search engines. Choose GoDaddy.com to select your domain name. You also need a Hosting Account to host your domain. There are many hosting services, I use HostMonster.com who I find are very reputable and their site is easy to navigate.
6. Your free Web Editor is now your best friend
Go to Google.com and type in Kompozer and download this free piece of software that will allow you to create your own websites. Knowing the skills of creating your own website and webpages will boost your confidence and give you a professional presence online.
7. Your Mentor is your second best friend
I mentioned before that you need to follow a professional mentor in order to become self sufficient and successful online. In order to do this you need to follow very precise and accurate instructions that will develop your skills and increase your online confidence. I don’t know if you have ever heard of a fellow named Chris Farrell, but he started online in February of 2008. He has developed one of the best systems to help those of us who want to get started online but just don’t know where to start. You can either Google his name or Click Here to know more about Chris Farrell.
