Working from home – a few lazy hours a day – bang out a few emails – and then watch as the cash rolls in?
But it’s exactly this idyllic picture that traps countless people every year. Remember life before the web? All innocent and unsuspecting. Suddenly one random day we hear about making money online, and – BOOM! – with a Vader-like grip we are pulled over to the Dark Side. The Dark Side that is Internet Marketing.
We’ve all been there; goggle eyed in astonishment at the jaw dropping incomes many are claiming to make per day, per week, per month – simply by using the world wide web. Naturally we are intrigued. Can anyone do this? And if so…how about someone such as, well, er…me?
So we dig deeper.
But then what happens?
The more we delve into this murky pond of making money from home, the more we begin to convince ourselves that before we really get started, we need to know EVERYTHING.
From just days earlier having nothing but boundless enthusiasm and a hungry desire to succeed, now we have morphed into a rabid creature, gorging on as much information as we can get our hands on. Furiously working every night till 2am – enduring the wrath of our loved ones now banished to sleeping alone – ferociously cramming as much as we can.
‘..just 10 more minutes..’, ‘..just finishing this email..’, ‘..just downloading my 17th ebook..’ Up sells, down sells, htmls, affiliates, anchor links, cloaked links,I love my niche, I hate my niche, need a blog, must join that, must join this, that ezine looks good, what a great forum..
Just STOP! For the love of god just stop.
You will NEVER know everything about this business. There is NEVER a perfect time to start.
As general George Patton said; A good plan violently executed right now, is far better than a perfect plan executed next week.
Stop trying to master everything. It will drive you insane. I know, my refrigerator told me.
Instead, take a walk from your computer, and ask yourself what is the ONE thing you want to master. How to create an ebook? Great – then do JUST that. Getting your first site online? Perfect – do JUST this.
I have implemented an incredibly simple strategy; since doing so my business has come on leaps and bounds.
What is it?
Quite simply – I write down my daily aim – and stick it on the PC. I then REFUSE to do ANYTHING that distracts me from this. As soon as I started working in this manner, I instantly stopped checking my emails every half hour, Googling something I thought of, dipping into yet another download, signing up for yet another membership site..
Your best investment could be a stack of cheap Post It notes. Scribble down your daily aim, slap it on your monitor, and vow that you will achieve your aim before doing any other business online.
Your arsenal of skills will rapidly grow and you will amaze yourself at how quickly your business will progress.
Then you can check your emails.

Hey, Boomers! Use these Affirmations, change them or add your own. They will help you with your life, guaranteed!!
Affirmations for Inner Healing, Building Self-Esteem, and Spiritual Awareness
by Suzanne E. Harrill, M.Ed., LPC
I am at peace with myself and accept my oneness with all life.
I draw from the wellspring of the Source to fill my heart with love, joy, peace, beauty, and grace. As I fill myself I have more than enough to nourish myself and others.
My wisdom guides me moment by moment to know how to act, how to think, and to say.
I accept the rhythm of life with its periods of great activity and fellowship with others and its periods of silence and quiet time to be alone.
I feel safe and secure, knowing the greater wisdom of the Universe is always there to listen, comfort, guide, teach, and heal me through meditation and prayer.
As I learn to connect more and more with my true Self, I give up all pain and suffering that I have caused myself by my miscreations. I accept responsibility for my life and see deeper meaning behind all experiences.
I forgive myself for being unaware and for allowing situations to continue that did not support my highest good and spiritual intentions.
I forgive others in order to stop the wounds of the past from coloring the present. I accept the power of Love to heal all pain and suffering so I can extend love to all others, even those whom I choose not to have an active relationship with, that I dislike, or who have hurt me. Current grievances roll off my back like water off a duck.
In my new world nothing is a mistake, everything is of value for the upliftment of my consciousness. I take full responsibility to be the gardener of my life, continually planting new seeds of transformation and pulling the weeds of my miscreations.
Today is a new beginning in consciousness and I use my creative power to draw to me situations and people that help me heal emotionally and spiritually and to actualize my potential.
I rejoice in my new life as I live from the full place of unconditional Love, Light, and Power. I play the hand I was dealt willingly, joyfully, and with awareness. I love myself and appreciate my life.
Read these affirmations before you go to sleep and when you awaken. You can record them on a tape, in your own voice, to play for yourself. Add some of your own affirmations. Affirmations repeated over time reprogram your subconscious mind and help you enjoy healthier results in life.

There will be days where you don’t want to do anything involving that dreaded four letter word – work. Whatever type of work you do in order to get to a specific goal you have in mind, sometimes we need that burst of energy to combat that “lazy,” “procrastinating,” “I-don’t-want-to-do-it” voice in our heads.
Everybody goes through this; it’s common, but it’s important to understand how to quickly get yourself into gear so you are taking action. One of the best ways is to motivate yourself. Here are ten effective methods you use whenever you feel like you need motivation.
Looking to the Future
Knowing what it is that you want in life gives you motivation. You should have a vision of your ideal life. Where you want to travel? Where do you want to live? You could be cruising on a Yacht in one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. You could be living in a mansion with a beautiful, loving spouse and kids playing around you. You could buy that dream car you’ve always wanted ever since you were a teenager. Make a collage and post it on the wall. Don’t be afraid to let other people see it if it’s something that motivates you to do your work. It’s for you, not for anybody else.
Going Outside and Run
Yes, run. It’s very healthy for you in fact. By running you’ll be stimulating blood to your brain and allowing more oxygen in your body, letting you think better. But the point is to get you away from all this swirling chatter going inside your mind at the moment and just enjoy whatever is going on outside. Maybe you can just jog around the neighborhood and see people watering the grass, kids playing outside, people talking and help each other, etc. There’s more to life than being stuck at work and sometimes getting your adrenaline running while seeing something else besides your work is a simple yet powerful source of motivation.
Getting Inspiration from Gurus
Everybody has role models. There are many inspiration people out there that have overcome feats in way worst situations than you. I mean Donald Trump is a good example. He was over 900 million dollar in debt at one point, but after ten years from that experience, somehow managed to pull himself out to become one of the wealthiest people on earth today. It may take some work to looking into their biography, but it’s worth it. Find out who inspires you that works in the same field you are in and read up on them. Post a picture of them on your wall and use their pathway to success to help you give you motivation whenever you are feeling down.
Just Taking Action
Believe it or not, some people think it’s ridiculous that one needs motivation to get to work. If you just take action, you might find that motivation will come to you when you are deeply in tuned with what you are doing. You will feel the momentum! An example might be turning something you hate doing and then diving straight into it and turning it into an obsession. And as you are taking action and “in the moment”, you may gradually be more aware of all the little things that you never noticed before, which might interest you, give you more motivation to dive deeper into your work, and perfect it.
Stimulating Pain
Some people can’t feel motivated if they don’t feel pain or a sense of desperation to do something. These would be times of need, when there is no other option but to work. This type of “urgency” gives a person a burst of energy to get things done. You can create pain by going back and remembering the painful consequences you had to deal with when you needed to get something done or if you don’t get something done such as getting yelled at by someone you’re afraid of or the feeling of living out in the streets and having no home.
I remember my freshman high school basketball coach was one of the scariest people on earth; every time he barked, we would listen. He turned what I thought was going to be a fun basketball experience into a physical living nightmare, but it motivated each of us to struggle, work, and fight for our lives, or we would be punished and or eventually be cut from the team. Sometimes discomfort may be the best motivators of all, since if we feel too comfortable with ourselves we lack discipline and don’t want to take action at all.
Competition
Are you blood thirsty to be the best? Do you have that killer instinct to out compete your opponents? In every field of work, when more than one person is trying to achieve the same thing, there is always going to be competition no matter what. Some people are afraid of it, others use it to motivate them to become better and work harder. Maybe it’s time for you to be aware of who is your competition right now, the ones that you see and don’t see, and put it on your wall, so you know you’re objective is beat them, to get ahead, to win. Go into the “survival-of-the-fittest” mode and use that drive to make you take action whenever you think about competition.
Music
It’s a no brainer that music affects our mood. If you put on a blues song, you’ll feel sad. If you put on a jazz song, you will feel relaxed. If you put on pop song, you will feel happy. If you put on a motivational song, you will feel motivated. And how many songs are there like this that you can find? Millions. People have different preferences of songs that affect them; you just have to find a song that motivates you. Songs that have made me motivated usually have a fast beat. If you enjoy hip-hop, try listening to
“Changes” by Tupac or “Opportunity” by Eminem.
Creating Laughter
Laugh your way to motivation. Life doesn’t always have to be serious, nor it does it always require a an awe-inspiring, perfectly crafted way to get motivation. Sometimes all you need is just a good laugh, shrug off your worries, and you’re good to go. Imagine something funny in the past that was so stupid that it made you laugh, or if your good at improv, take any current situation and turn it into something so ridiculously pointless that it makes you laugh as well. Use self-deprecation, act stupid, be an idiot for once, pretend your work is funny and just wants your attention, then make fun of both of you guys. Use humor; it’s a wonderful feeling.
Small Bits
One little, small, single, tiny… step goes a long way. When you feel you like you can’t even get yourself to get to work, just do one thing that can, even if it’s the littlest thing possible. Then, reward yourself every time you take small step. Give yourself a pat on the back. It’s supposed to be a psychological effect to trick you mind into thinking you’re doing more work than you actually are, but then end results are that you are already doing work so why not just go forth with it.
For example, I used to hate doing math homework in high school. Many times I’d procrastinate and put it off to the side. I found that if I just took the energy to just open my backpack and flip it to the page of my homework and just look at it for a few seconds; I knew I could at least do the first three problems. From there, I could do the next one, then the next one, and before I knew it, I would subconscious be in the process of doing my homework.
Knowing Why
Finally, do you know why you are working? Or are you just blindly working for no reason? We all do things for a reason and sometimes if you know exactly why you are doing what you do, it will be enough to motivate you. Maybe this beyond materialism, maybe it has to do with helping a love one, or getting yourself out of an ugly situation, or maybe it just has to do with personal growth. What is your purpose? Whatever it is, make sure your why is something that makes you desire it and motivates you whenever you think of it. This will help you take action.
What Motivates Me?
There isn’t one thing that specifically motivates me. I usually get motivated by random things that happen to be around me during that specific time. But the one thing that usually always help motivate me is knowing what is going to happen if I do something. What is going the outcome or the result of something. What is going to be inevitable.
For example, I know if I take the time to read a book I will educate myself and learn something new. Sometimes reading isn’t always fun, but I know it’s inevitable that I’ll at least get something out of it and that is enough to motivate me to take action. And if you keep doing something enough times, you know, what will be the result of not only for the short term but in the long term? Look ahead. I mean, sometimes motivation is necessary to give you that quick burst of energy but, ultimately you want to use it produce an inevitable outcome that you know will happen ahead of you. Don’t rely on needing motivation every single time just to get something done.
Find a way to make your work into a consistent habit and you’ll soon realize that you won’t need that much motivation to do something; you’ll motivation will die down but you’ll be able to do what you need to get done. That, in my opinion, should be the reason for motivation – not just having a “high” and forgetting about the next day, but using it a crutch to make your actions a consistent habit so you can always take action without always thinking, “I need motivation today in order to get to work.”
Hey, Boomers!
Here are the top five reasons why most blogs donʼt last. Hopefully, new bloggers will keep some of these points in mind when beginning their blogging career.
1. Blogging consistently is NOT easy.
It certainly is easy to set up a Blogspot account or even install Wordpress, but unfortunately, most blogs donʼt go much further than that. Many people find that writing informative and original articles consistently is difficult, and they are right – it is difficult. However, most experienced bloggers will tell you that it takes a while to build up that elusive blogging rhythm – the one in which you easily weave together insightful and unique posts.
2. New blogs see little to no financial return, initially.
Many people start blogging because they see John Chow [http://www.johnchow.com] and Problogger [http://www.problogger.com] pulling thousands each month from Adsense. These superbloggers make it look easy, but the fact remains, John Chow and Darren Rowse have been blogging for YEARS. It is extremely rare for a blog to make very much money before its three month mark.
3. Consistent web traffic takes time to build. Be patient.
I’ll admit itʼs hard to feel motivated to blog when you know not many people are reading your work. However, this early stage of blogging is arguably the most crucial. The first three months are the time to show everyone that despite not having tons of comments or a large number of RSS subscribers, you write interesting, original, link-worthy articles.
4. Lack the passion? Wave your blogging career goodbye.
Many new “make money online” blogs have popped up over the past few months. How many of those people actually make money online and are passionate about it? John Chow didnʼt start writing about how to make money online exclusively – he initially just used his blog to talk about his passions, only one of which was making that online dough. My passion is about personal development and motivational self help and only since I have been blogging has my passion for blog development emerged. Now, blogging is one of my favorite topics to write about.
5. Time management must be practiced seriously.
Itʼs no secret – most people would love to quit their day job and blog full time. So, they start blogging but find that, like anything, it takes a considerable amount of time. Add that to their already busy lives and it is something that often gets put off and eventually abandoned. When anyone adds blogging to their busy life, they must start practicing time management much more seriously. I find that it doesnʼt take me much longer than 20-40 minutes to write a solid post, so I make sure to carve out that time at least 5x per week. Just like going to the gym, blogging takes months of hard work to see any noticeable benefits. In my 2 months of blogging, only recently am I starting to see these benefits – including financial return, people linking to my posts, as well as some subscribers, readers, etc.
In conclusion, the number one lesson I have learned from blogging is that hard work over time pays off. With time comes experience and respect. I respect people who have been blogging for at least six months – that takes some serious dedication. The longer you have been blogging, the more people will see you as an expert or authority about your blog topics. There is a lot of power in published work. Blogging has taught me that to see measurable results in ANYTHING, you must work hard, stay ultra-dedicated, and perhaps most importantly, be patient.
“Baby Boomers – the generation that changed the world…and then forgot all about it.”
Did you know that blogging is really like having a conversation with someone you don’t know by using the written word. Only, it’s much more than that and I’ll explain.
When you are looking at someones blog, first impressions really do count don’t they?
You look at the heading, the design, where items such as posts, banners, how links are arranged and form either a positive or negative impression. With a positive impression your reader may read your last post and possibly look at a few other posts that are posted on your blog.
There may be other headings on your blog such as an “about me” page or a “home” page that will explain to your reader more information about yourself and your business ideas or interests. There may be also links to other social networking sites such as twitter, facebook, utube and digg etc.
The more information and valuable free content you can provide your reader, the more interested they will become. This is why your blog should have the capability of being proactive. A comments section is very valuable because it allows your reader to interact with your blog and provide valuable constructive information about your content or posts.
This interaction between your reader is built on honesty and trust and must be handled with great care and sincerity. Any information that you supply your reader must be thoroughly analyzed so that it can provide the best and most valuable content. This “true to blogging” mentality is the key to attracting other readers and bloggers with the same interests either likes or dislikes.
When you match valuable content with a truly interactive blog, you will be able to provide honest and sincere assistance to those who really need your help. This was once provided to me by a gentleman by the name of Chris Farrell who has also provided honest and sincere content to 1000’s of others needing assistance online.

What’s really great about this tool is that it actually helps me find how-to content for *almost anything* in my life I want to improve.

There’s a demo video on the site that explains how it works. You can view it below:
Hey, Boomers! Planning your personal goals can be both challenging and fun…read on..
What is a personal goal?
Most people do have personal goals but have never written them down or heard themselves say them out loud. You can not achieve a goal unless that achievement is something you were striving for. A goal is only random thoughts until you give yourself the opportunity to sit down, actually think about setting personal goals and put them on paper. Writing them down provides you the chance to actually see them which may also present many surprises. There may be some personal success goals you did not realize you wanted to achieve.
How to set personal goals.
It is time to choose the direction of your journey of life. When it comes to setting personal goals, start off with what’s important to you in life. Think of the big picture. What do you want to do, who do you want to meet, how do you want to get from where you are now to where you want to be? Write everything down that comes to mind, even if it seems trivial or silly. Don’t do anything or think about anyone else while you are brainstorming. Give yourself 30 – 60 minutes for this goal setting exercise.
Take a look at what you have written down and start connecting the items that relate to each other. If you want to learn to sky dive and you want to sky dive over a certain area then these items get connected. Organize your list before you move on.
How to reach your personal goals.
You now have a list of how to improve my life to dos’ or long term personal goals. Break this list down into lists of what you want to achieve in 10 years, then 5 years and down to 1 year. This keeps you from feeling overwhelmed by everything you want to do. Make a separate sheet for each segment of time. This provides you the start to a life planning road map or goals.
Make your personal goal list manageable.
Breaking down these long term goals into short term goals will enable you to measure your progress and achieve your long term goals. Take each list and break them down into smaller and more manageable steps that you need to complete on your way to achieving your long term goal. This will increase your confidence knowing that you are aware of what you can do and now start thinking about how you will accomplish each step.
Now is a good time to go back and compare the two personal goal lists you have made. Make sure that the steps on your short-term list will, as you attain them, be helping you towards your long-term or lifetime personal goals. The important aspect of this is to ensure that what you are doing short term is taking you in the right direction toward your lifetime goals.
Set daily and weekly steps to reach your personal goals.
The last step, but a continuous one, is to create a manageable list of daily and weekly goals from your one year list. By doing this you will always be in the position of moving towards your long term goals. Everyday provides the opportunity to achieve a step towards a certain life changing personal goal, giving you the feeling of accomplishment.

There are already many tools that people can use to make the process of distributing their articles more easily. Though this is invaluable in getting the contents more exposure, which is only half of the story. Let us take a look first at the common mistakes that some people make before submitting their contents to article directories:
1. Confusing the reason to promote the articles with the reason to write them. In article writing, there are three key benefits why you are promoting them; branding, lead generation and promotion, which are all part of your optimization efforts. But there is only one reason why you write an article, and that is to inform your audience. If the article is not focused on this primary and most important purpose, it will fail to achieve the three promotion benefits because no one will be interested in reading them. You need to figure out first how to get people to read what is in your article, then make them click on your resource box. You can achieve this by producing better contents.
2. Failing to maximize the promotional opportunities of article marketing. You may know already that your articles can help you generate additional links back to your site. But do you know that you can get more visitors and better search engine results from that same article? Mention keywords at strategic places. Just be sure not to overdo them. Some are even using anchor texts which is also an effective method. But it is important to know that majority of the directories are not able to support this. Remember that is not only about the links back to your site. Part of doing well in your article marketing is getting picked up by publishers with a large number of audiences and gaining the ability of leveraging other brands because of the quality of your work. Better search engine results also are great benefits. But these things do not put much money in your pocket. There are other factors that can turn your article marketing efforts into an opportunity that can boost your earnings. Not just increase the number of visitors to your site. Start out with a plan and see to it that your article will serve the function that you intended it to have.
3. Publishing content that does not help your readers. Maybe in the process of writing articles, you are thinking that all that is you wanted is links back to your site. And any visitors it can generate are fine. Guess what? Not all article banks and directories are going to accept your content automatically. Oftentimes, they have some guidelines and specifications on the articles that they are accepting. You can double the number of sites you can submit to by writing articles that the directories want to share with other people. All it takes is one publisher with a hundred thousand readers to increase your potential audience overnight. Write the articles that publishers want in their publications if you want your article marketing to work the most effective way for you. This also means you have to obey the standard guidelines, spell checks, researching on a good topic and even hiring a writer to produce a good content on your behalf. In the end, it is all really a matter of choice on your part. You can start getting a little exposure from increased links back but on a very basic level. Or enjoy massive exposure from a little extra time making quality contents. It will be your choice. You may not be aware of the fact that an article submitted on directories is not meant to have the same level of exposure as highly-targeted content ones geared on a narrow group of people. Learn the difference between these two and it will surely help you know what kinds of articles to write and to submit.
Writing ezine articles is one of the best business-building activities you’ll ever invest time in on the Internet. They can be used in dozens of different ways to generate web site traffic, build lists, brand your name, earn affiliate commissions and produce sales of your products and services.
They are, unquestionably, a vital part of any successful Internet marketing campaign.
By now – if you’ve read anything in the member’s area – you know I’m a big believer in writing ezine articles. And you know that I’ve devoted many of the lessons in the member’s area toward teaching you how to write, distribute and market with them.
Yet there still remains a lingering question -
WHAT should I write about in my ezine articles?
I want to share with you some brainstorming ideas that will allow you to easily come up with a couple dozen (or more) hot ideas for your upcoming ezine articles. I’m going to briefly share seven (7) fill-in-the-blank article starters along with a brief explanation to help you get started writing attention-grabbing content.
When you’re ready to write your next ezine article, consider one of these not-yet-overused formulas…
1. What To Do When [Enter Problem Here]. The idea with this article is to offer a solution to an existing problem by matter-of-factly addressing the issue being discussed in the article. “What To Do When You Need To Lose That Last 5 Pounds” points out a problem many dieters face and hints that the article will reveal a method for overcoming this barrier. This article’s pointed style makes it a sure read.
2. Can [Enter Solution Here] Help [Enter Problem Here]? Similar to number one above, this article poses a question while emphasizing both the problem and potential solution. What really works here is to ask a “curiosity-building” question by providing a solution that doesn’t seem to fit with the problem. For example: If you’re trying to re-grow hair on your balding head, could you resist reading, “Can Cheerios Help Thicken Your Hair?” I don’t think so.
3. Should You [Enter Activity Here]? (Take This Quiz). People love quizzes. They especially love to see how they measure up in some area that they are particularly interested in. That combination makes this another ezine article that gets a lot of views. “Should You Quit Your Job And Start An Internet Business? Take This Quiz!” is going to attract every dissatisfied, looking-for-greener-pastures, internet marketing wannabe on the block.
4. 7 “Must Ask Questions” for [Enter Activity Here]. This is a perfect article for the entry-level beginner in any particular field. “7 ‘Must-Ask’ Questions for First-Time Homeschoolers’ When Choosing Curriculum” is just about a guaranteed read for all new homeschooling moms and dads who don’t want to blow it for their kids. (Note: The “number” of must-ask questions can be whatever you choose.)
5. 3 [Enter Topical Adjective Here] Lessons from [Enter Pop Culture Reference]. By using references to popular culture events, characters, television shows, news stories and trends, you’ll be able to get some cheap mileage from existing “hot buttons” of the general public. I recentl wrote an article entitled, “3 Word-Of-Mouth Marketing Lessons From the Academy Awards” that garnered a lot of interest. Guess when I released it? Yep, a week before the big awards show.
6. Mastering [Enter Topic Here]: How to [Enter Tutorial Statement Here] Part 1. This is a superb article idea for a series of related tutorials. The word “master” is a bit overused at times in marketing circles, but it means to “become an expert” at something or to “achieve dominance” over something. Who wouldn’t want to “master” their activity of interest? That’s why “Mastering Weight Loss: How To Shed 12-15 Pounds in 30 Days, Part 1″ and other articles in its mold make for much-read content.
7. What Kind of [Enter Desirable Object Here] Is Best For YOU? We all want what’s “best” for us, don’t we? “What Kind Of Internet Business Is Best For You?” indicates there is something revealed in the article that will allow me to determine which of the options available to me is best suited for me. This is a really solid article to point others towards additional resources (such as special reports, mini-courses, etc.) where they can get specific information about which of the “options” mentioned in the article is most interesting and compatible with them.
So, there you have some great ideas to get you started on your next ezine article.
You know you’re going to write ezine articles, so would you like to get a LOT of completely free traffic with them? Check out “How To Get Free Traffic With Ezine Articles” by clicking here http://infoprofitshare.com/go.php?offer=indiarose7&pid=18. You’ll learn a powerful (but easy) way to get a lot of visitors to your website by using your ezine articles in a special way … all at no cost to you.

Hey, Boomers! Our 25th Wedding Anniversay is August of this year! Where did that time go…
So where to begin? First and foremost, you need to decide whether you are hosting a big get-together or a small intimate gathering. This decision should be based upon what your parents are most accustomed to and what they prefer. If you do not know, do some sneaky investigative work and find out. Secondly, you need to decide whether or not to have a traditional or contemporary anniversary party.
A traditional anniversary party usually adheres to the yearly material used for how long a couple has been married. In this case, the material is silver for 25 wonderful years of marriage. Most, tend to be more formal and are viewed as a second wedding reception. A contemporary wedding anniversary party is usually not as formal and incorporates other themes besides the traditional silver motif.
If you are going the traditional route, and have decided to host a large gathering, preparation and planning is a must. First, you need to decide who you are inviting and how many. Next, you need to pick a facility that can accommodate the amount of people anticipated. Although a person’s home can be used, most people tend to have parties at banquet or reception halls for easy parking and accessibility.
Creating invitations is where you can let your creativity shine. If you have extra cash, opt for professionally made ones. This will add a touch of elegance and class, and be a great scrapbook memento. Decide whether this is a black tie event or casual, and make sure to include in your invitation that this is a surprise party. You do NOT want to be getting a call from your parents asking how they can help!
Next, you need to decide how you will use your theme of silver in your decorations. There are many resources out there and party planning companies that can assist with these nit-picky details. As a rule of thumb, stick with silver as your primary color for decorating. Accent colors should complement the silver, not detract. For floral arrangements, the flower for the 25th is the iris which is a beautiful touch for center pieces.
Besides the decorating and invitations, food is very important. Depending on your budget you could provide a buffet for everyone, or go the economical route and provide shrimp cocktails and appetizers. Just make sure you have enough for all of your guests! As for dessert, it is nice to have another wedding cake. If your parents had a small wedding cake before, really go all out on this one by having a bigger and better cake.
As an added touch during their party, many prefer to show some sort of memorabilia for their parents, whether this be a slide show, movie, or specially made composite CD that highlights their loving and lasting relationship. It is also nice to find out what song they have danced to at their wedding and have them dance to it once more.
Next is the toast. Since you are hosting the party it is expected of you to give them a warm and heartfelt speech. Once again, spend plenty of time on this to show them how much you have appreciated them throughout the years.
Last but not least, is the gift. Since this is like a second wedding reception, if you can, splurge on getting them a second honeymoon. If you cannot afford it, tactfully include in the invitation that you are trying the help them go on a fabulous second honeymoon and see if you can raise the money. Try to top their first honeymoon and make it one they will never forget! If you are really tapped out, be creative and give them a gift that is related to the theme of silver. This does not necessarily mean jewelry or silverware, you could give them a gift basket filled with various items they would really enjoy. Let it be imaginative and come from the heart.
As for a contemporary or smaller wedding anniversary party, a back-yard barbecue may be completely acceptable. You could also have a themed party, like mardi-gras, disco, costume, and so forth. A themed party may be formal if you choose, but remember to make it classier if you can. Even if you are having a smaller or less formal get-together, a dedication to your parents should still be made to show them your love.
For the surprise element of the party, tell your parents weeks in advance that as a present for their anniversary, you have reserved them a table at some chic restaurant. If
it is not a fancy party you are having, tell them you have tickets to an event like a concert or play. Do not tell them who or what it is so they do not get their hopes up. After all, you want them to be surprised and happier that their having a party not going to see their favorite singer perform!
And as always, there are certain things that should not be done at a party. Although it may be amusing to belabor how long they have been married, it is not appropriate or funny to make your parents feel old. They already know!
No matter what route you end up choosing for a party, make sure it comes from the heart and will be a day they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
